Healthy snacking on the go: Bananas

I never understood how some people are almost scared of bananas. It is the dreaded carbs that everyone talks about.

I love bananas! They are delicious, nutritious and filling. A perfect snack. I  have about two everyday pretty much. I have half a banana as part of my topping on my porridge in the morning, half a banana with almond butter on whole meal bread or rice cakes before working out and when I am working, one of my snacks is a banana with a handful of mixed nuts.

If I do not have bananas at home I get banana panic as I say to Jamie, haha. I need ripe bananas available at home… Yes I am a weirdo.

Another tasty snack when you are feeling like a nice treat is banana slices with almond butter or peanut butter on top. Some dip them in melted dark chocolate and freeze them. I am yet to try this but it sounds like it would be heavenly!

Bananas are a perfect snack on the go and is another thing I throw in my bag if I know I am out for a bit and am unsure when I will eat next. The only annoying things is that you have to remember that you have   them in your bag, unless you want a squashed one. Not as pleasant.

Some of the benefits of bananas are:

  • They are high in potassium.
  • They are full of fibre, which keeps you full for longer.
  • They have carbohydrates in them, amazing for energy before a workout or to start your day.

Plus, did I say they are delicious?
