Lunch at Saramago, CCA

Those of you that have been reading my blog and following my Instagram for a while know by now that I love food and eating out. A place that I’ve been wanting to try for a while is the Saramago at the CCA (Centre for Contemporary Arts) on Sauchiehall Streets. I have heard a lot of fantastic things about their vegan menu and I just felt like I had to give it a try. You all know that I’ve been eating a lot more vegetarian and vegan food the last couple of months so I’m always looking for inspiration for meals. Eating out is a great way to see and learn new ways of cooking food.

To begin with, the venue is stunning on the inside. It almost felt like sitting outside. The lights in the ceiling was a beautiful touch and added to the feeling of sitting outdoors. We ordered the soup of the day and sandwich. Jamie had a mushroom, thyme and white wine soup and a focaccia sandwich with tapenade. I had a cauliflower and almond soup with a flat bread wrap with butternut squash, avocado, an incredible vegan mayo and salad. The food was just heavenly. Every mouthful was a delight and you could tell that they make everything from scratch, even the bread.

Saramago is such a great place and I can’t wait to back. Those of you who think vegan food is boring or uninspiring should visit this place because good vegan food is probably even better sometimes than normal food I think. It’s so fresh and really celebrates the amazing flavours of vegetables. I thought it would be difficult to cut down on my meat intake but ever since I’ve done it I’ve come to appreciate vegetables even more and crave meat less and less. Yes I appreciate meat and I would probably never stop eating fish but I don’t feel the need to have meat anymore with my meals as I used to. Never thought I would feel that way. However, when I’m out for food I just have whatever I feel like. I don’t like putting a label on myself. I eat whatever I want to eat and whatever I feel like eating. Anyway, this could be an entire new blog post, so I’ll save my rant for some other time 😛

Have a lovely evening everyone. I have to head to bed to get up nice and early for yoga tomorrow. Sweet dreams 🙂 x
