Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know about my cookbook addiction. I love browsing through pages of inspiration and trying new recipes. Sometimes I get a bit stuck in my way and end up eating the same five recipes over and over again, which is why it’s amazing getting a book full of new things to eat.
I was so happy when one of Jamie’s Christmas presents to me was Ella’s new book. Her old one inspired me so much and because of her, my meals look very different today. I needed meat before to feel like my meals were complete. Now I can go days without even craving it. Like you already know, I would never limit myself but now I only have meat if I feel like it now not because it is a necessity. The only thing I really crave once in a while is salmon. Salmon is just incredible!
I loved Ella’s old book but I must say that “Deliciously Ella Every Day” is even better. I prefer the order the recipes are organised much more and I really feel as she has stepped it up another notch with her amazing recipes. They are delicious but yet so simple to make most of them. I’ve already tried her Butternut Squash and Chickpea Salad, Warming Winter Bowl and Mushroom Risotto. They have all been heavenly. If I would make the risotto again I would tweak it slightly, like add a vegetable stock cube for more flavour and add a bit less lemon in the basil cream as I found it slightly over powering (Jamie loved it). Despite this, it was still beautiful and lasts for days.
My favourite part is probably the big batch cooking section as I love cooking a big meal that give me lots of leftovers. All I can day is order this book, you won’t regret it! I once again feel really inspired and can’t wait to try more of her recipes. The first sweet thing I’m making will have to be her crumble. I’m obsessed with crumbles!
Today I had the opportunity to meet Ella on her visit to Glasgow. It was great seeing her in real life and have my wonderful book signed by her!
