Hi everyone!

Just handed in my first out of three last essays at university today. It’s the beginning of the end and soon all this stress will be in the past (looking forward to that!). Scary how quickly four years of university has gone by and soon I’ll be out in the big world. I’ll speak more bout my thoughts regarding the future in another post.

Today I was sick of being in our flat (I feel like I’ve been trapped in here in front of laptop the past week, which I sort of have). So I suggested to Jamie that we would go for a nice lunch at Kember and Jones. We both love that place and we’ve been going since first year. It’s Jamie who took me here for the first time and three years and five months later (tomorrow actually) we still go there to enjoy their food. They recently changed their menu a bit and all the new dishes sound amazing. I used to be a huge fan of their goats cheese salad but now this salad has found a competitor, the kale, feta and butternut squash salad. It is amazing! Jamie had a beautiful focaccia sandwich with sautéed mushroom, ricotta and pesto in it. It was deliciously creamy (I had a bite). We also got a lovely basket of bread, I think it might be a new thing they’re doing because we didn’t order any and everyone seemed to get one. My salad was soo filling I only had a little taste of the bread basket.

Afterwards, Jamie had to go to work and I decided to go to Juice Garden and have a juice before my final lecture of university. Jamie who is so amazingly kind insisted on me taking some money to treat myself to a raw dessert because he thought I deserved it after my hard work. He wanted to go with me but didn’t have time. What did I do to deserve such a thoughtful, kind and generous man? So I got a raw Bounty and a raw Mars bar and had half of each after dinner so Jamie gets the other halves as a nice treat too.

I hope you all have a lovely evening, I’m just studying a bit and watching some TV. I was up until the early hours last night finishing off my essay to will probably be going to bed soon.

A nutritious brunch

If there is something I love it is poached eggs with avocado on some delicious bread. It’s always a winner in my eyes. However, poaching eggs myself has always seemed a bit intimidating but yesterday Jamie and I decided to give it a go. I got some delicious seeded sourdough bread from the amazing Kember & Jones here in the West End and we served it with some sautéed cavolo nero, red onions, fresh chilli and garlic on the side. We had never tried cavolo nero before and it was delicious.  I’m definitely getting the again. The texture was lovely with a slight sweetness almost and how amazing is that dark green colour?

So how did the egg poaching go? Quite alright for being the first time I would say, a part from the one egg white that completely disintegrated almost. The others didn’t look amazing but came out very delicious and runny. Jamie got one to look absolutely perfect so I would say we will get there with a bit of practice. I’m glad that we pushed our culinary skills and decided to give poaching eggs a go 😛

What’s your favourite brunch? I would love to hear!
