Birthday yoga // La Siesta // Javea

I know I haven’t shared anything from my birthday so I thought it was about time! It was an incredible day and one of the hottest so far. I felt so lucky to spend my birthday in the warmth. The day started off at La Siesta with yoga on just by the beach with Jamie’s mum. Going to at least one of Fran’s classes is a must when I’m Javea. Her classes are one of my favourites ever. You can’t beat the view and I love how Fran always challenges you to trying new poses and improving your practice. She takes the time for every single one of her students to make sure they get the most out of hr classes.

Yoga is a working progress for, I’m far from great. It’s a great challenge for me and I feel like the past year I’ve definitely noticed a difference in my body. I only go once or sometimes twice a week and yoga has helped me in so many ways, one of them is mobility for my strength training.

I would encourage anyone to try out a couple of classes in a local studio where you live, it might be a bit intimidating at first but you realise that it doesn’t really matter that you can’t touch your toes, as long as you’re there and trying that is what counts. You won’t get more flexible if you don’t work on it.

This class was such an incredible start to my birthday!

Hotty hot workout

Hi everyone!

Hope you are well and have had an amazing weekend so far. Here in Spain the weather has been absolutely amazing. We have just been lounging about on the beach, fallen asleep there once or twice throughout the day on our sunbeds and had delicious food. It’s been so nice to lazy about but on Friday I was desperate to workout. I’m so used to getting my daily exercise boost that it feels weird not doing anything. So I went to the gym with Jamie’s mum here in Javea. I really like trying out new gyms and Sparta, as it’s called, was such a great little place where everyone knew everyone. I love places like that.

I’m glad we went quite early in the morning because places here don’t stay cool for very long when the sun comes out. Sparta’s main weights area is also outside and sheltered by a marquee, so it’s safe to say it was quite a sweaty gym session. I love gyms that don’t have the latest blingy equipment, they have the basic things and that’s all you really need, that’s what Sparta is like. Jamie’s mum and I had a great time and I left with sweat pouring down, it felt like I’d had a shower pretty much.

When I was over working in the Edinburgh store last week I also got some new gear for Spain (I couldn’t resist). Plus I don’t really have workout clothes for the heat anymore. I was so excited to wear my new stuff for the first time at Sparta. I absolutely love the top (although I would’ve been better with a top that didn’t have a built-in bra, I had to fold it up towards the end because I was too warm! I didn’t think that one through. The hotty hot shorts were amazing, light and nice and stretchy for squats. I’ve wanting to buy the dottee tribe print (the print on the shorts) for ages in some form, it ended up being shorts. I’ve got some more new gear that I’ll show at a later point. Anyway, enough of my new workout clothes.

Today is actually my birthday!! I’m now 24! I’m up nice and early because we’re starting my day off with yoga on the beach. I’m so excited to go to Fran’s class again, I can’t think of a better way to start my day. Later on Jamie has got the day planned out, so I don’t really know what we’re doing just that I have to bring beach stuff. I’m excited to see what he’s planned. As long as I’m by the sea and with him I’m happy!

Beach day all day

I can’t tell you how amazing it is to be back in Javea. It’s my fourth summer going here with Jamie and I never get tired of it. I absolutely love spending time with Jamie’s family and being in the sun all day. Jamie and I have both switched into holiday mode and we are both feeling exhausted! When you are in that bubble of work and everyday life you don’t really take the time to stop and let your body relax. So as soon as we’re here it catches up with us and we just want to sleep.

Yesterday was spent on the beach all day. The only time we left our sun beds was when we went for lunch at one of our favourite places Chabadabada (former Champagne). Don’t ask why they changed to that name, I have no idea! To us it will always be Champagne.

It was amazing to just be lying down and relaxing all day in the sun. I’ve been reading loads and finally finished my book I started a while back, “The Girl You Left Behind” by Jojo Moyes. I fell in love with Jojo Moyes when I read Me Before You and none of her other books have ever disappointed me. This book was no different, it was a bit slow in the start (I’m probably a bit impatient and I feel that about a lot of books) but once I’ve read a couple of chapters I’m hooked. It was an amazing read. Now I’m moving onto “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”, as a big Harry Potter fan I just have to read it! It’s really good so fare, it’s a bit different reading a play. I may have fallen asleep at one point as well… Relaxing is exhausting.

Today we’re back on the beach and I think Jamie’s brother and girlfriend are joining us! It’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to get back. I just have to wait for everyone else to get up and get ready. The frustrations of being an early riser.

I am getting a bit restless not being at the gym so I might join Jamie’s mum at the gym tomorrow. When I’m on holiday I don’t put pressure on myself to go, it’s only if I feel like it so we’ll see. I know I’ll get back into it once I’m home anyway. Morning yoga is on the list as well for this stay, I’m not sure what day but it’s a must whenever I’m here.

I’m not over in Edinburgh very often and my list of healthy places over there is gettin quite long ! So yesterday before my shift I thought it was a great opportunity to go and try out Juice Warrior’s new shop and tick one of the places off! I’ve been a fan of Juice Warrior’s coldpressed juices for a quite a while now. They’re delicious, they’re organic and they’re served in cute little glass bottles. So I was gutted when I found out they were opening up a shop in Edinburgh and not Glasgow!

The last time Jamie and I were in Edinburgh, we were in looking at the shop and the menu but we were really full so we decided to go back a bit later but we didn’t make it back ( I got held up shopping in the lululemon Edinburgh store…). I was so sad. So this time around I made sure I had the time to go and pick up a smoothie. I was probably their first customer of the day, pretty much hanging on the locks of the shop.

I love the area the Juice Warrior shop is and the inside is understated but really cool. It took me a while to decide on what smoothie I wanted and with the help from the lovely girl in the shop, I narrowed it down to two. In the end I couldn’t stay away from my greens and ordered Castaway, pineapple, coconut water and ginger are winning ingredients. Other than that it had banana, spinach, cucumber, lime and mint in it, yum! The smoothie was very refreshing and not too sweet, which I really liked. For five pounds I think it’s way better value for money than Juice Garden here in Glasgow as Juice Warrior’s smoothies are organic and their ingredients are a bit more exciting (in my opinion).

After been drooling over their raw creations they keep on posting photos of, I had to buy one of their treats. They didn’t have their cute little raw donuts in so I ended up getting their raw almonds butter cups (not complaining). I can’t wait to try them today! I’m already looking forward to my next visit, there are so many other smoothies I want to try as and their smoothie bowls. Edinburgh, you’re one lucky city!

Please come to Glasgow next Juice Warrior!
