A day in Barcelona

How beautiful are the buildings in Barcelona?img_4798

The things you see when you stroll about aimlessly in a city. It’s my favourite way to experience it plus it’s a way for me to stay active during shorter breaks when you maybe don’t have time to do a proper workout. I probably could’ve if I really wanted too but I’d rather spend my time exploring the city, I can workout anytime pretty much when I’m home. We did end up getting a map at the tourist centre in the end as we were a bit limited with time and there’s so much to see in Barcelona.

I loved La Boqueria food market, filled with stalls of fruit, fish, meat and restaurants. Quite touristy but Jamie and I being the foodies we are still loved it. So much going on and lots of fresh produce. I would love to get my food from a market like this. The entire day we just walked and sat down for amazing meals (that I’ll of course continue sharing with you). We walked down to the water, walked to Arc de Triomf and la Sagrada Familia (it is so cool and so different from any other cathedral you’ll ever see). The last time I saw it years ago it was nowhere near done, it’s looking a lot more finished than before but it’s crazy they’re working on it and incredible at the same time what a lengthy process it is. I absolutely love Barcelona’s combination of big city life, great shopping, the closeness to the sea and beautiful beaches. I could definitely see myself settling down here later in life. I’d have to learn Spanish first hehe…

I’m sorry for the lack of workout and health posts lately. I love sharing my travels with you and hope you love it too. To be honest I haven’t properly gotten back to the gym yet. I’ve gone twice last week and was meant to go this morning but my throat was feeling a bit funny so I might go tonight to G5 if I feel better. Sometimes the weirdness in the throat just goes away during the day, fingers crossed. I’m going to go and get some ginger  today so I can make myself a ginger shot to get rid of it. I swear by ginger shots, the best cure and prevention.

Today I’m off work and I’m also dogsitting a little puppy called Marla. Marla’s owners and I found each other on Borrow My Doggy, a website where dog owners and people like me who can’t have a dog but would love to help take care of one can find each other. That way Marla doesn’t have to stay at home alone when her owners are at work and I don’t feel as desperate for a dog. One day I’ll have time for my own.

Madeleine Moves is a blog celebrating a love of exercise, food, travelling and life. I love being active, exercising and being out and about. With my blog I hope to spread this joy and inspire you to be your best. Who am I? I’m Madeleine (surprise). I’m a Swede who lives in the vibrant city of Glasgow in Scotland. I moved here for my university studies and in summer 2016 I graduated with a degree in Business and Management at University of Glasgow. My keyword has always been balance. I love eating healthy food but I also love to indulge once in a while. You need to enjoy life at the end of the day and limiting yourself is not the way to go. With this I would like to say welcome to Madeleine Moves. Love, Madeleine
