Escape Reality // Merchant Square // Glasgow

Hello guys! I love doing activities, something where you’re active and doing things instead of going to the cinema or watching a film at home. Don’t get me wrong, that’s nice too but I love experiences. That’s what life is about.

So when the guys at Escape Reality Glasgow invited me and asked me to bring some of my friends to try out one of their escape rooms I was beyond excited! I have done an escape experience with some friends when I was a lot younger and loved it so I couldn’t wait to give it another go. Now older and wiser (cough). For those who don’t know, an escape room experience is when a team of you are put in a room with a scenario you have to solve. You have an hour to complete it.

I didn’t actually know these guys were in Merchant Square until they got in touch. There space is a bit hidden away so if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you won’t really know it’s there. Quite mystical that way. When we arrived they had nibbles served up for everyone and loads of Prosecco flowing. My friends and Jamie were more than happy to try it all out and said it was amazing. I’d just had a snack and don’t drink so I let them handle that part 😛

One of the amazing members of staff then talked us through all the potential rooms we could go in. The rooms are different levels and unfortunately two of the middle difficulty rooms were taken and the third room sounded too scary for me (Saw inspired and I can’t cope with those films) and we didn’t want to do the easiest one. So we ended up doing the most difficult room, Alcatraz. Quite brave some of the staff members said for it being our first escape room experience.

We didn’t really know what to expect but it was so much fun! I won’t tell you what was in the room but oh my, an hour went by at the blink of an eye and we almost completed all of it. We were at the final door when we ran out of time so I’m super proud of our achievement. We all left the room buzzing from excitement. A great team experience and you really see people’s true colours come out. It was cool to see how everyone in the team played a part in getting us to the next stage. Everyone approaching the challenges in different ways.

We all want to go back and try the other rooms now. It’s really cool because they change up the rooms as well so there’s always something new going on. I now need to round up a new team and try this out again.

Thank you so much to Escape Reality Glasgow for inviting us to such a fun evening!
