My birthday

My birthday started nice and early with a comeback at G5. I really wondered how I was going to cope after being away but it felt great and not as bad as I thought it would be! I was very surprised with that.

Post workout happiness on my way into the voomfit office. It was great seeing the team.

The voomfit team surprised me with a beautiful cake from Coconut & Kale delivered by Faye herself. I was so surprised seeing her there next my desk with one of her beautiful cakes in her hands. We then went out for a quick tea and catch up at Riverhill. I’ve missed that lady so much!

There was a bit of a theme going on with my gifts from my colleagues. I think they want me to start making healthy cakes for them but I’m not sure… How amazing is the flamingo wrapping paper?!

Seriously the most beautiful and tastiest cake I could’ve ever asked for. A raw, vegan and a refined sugar free carrot cake. Yum! Tastes like heaven. 
As soon as I stepped through the door I was sat down by Jamie in the living room and he handed me a freshly made pineapple and ginger juice. My bartender did well!

He then had prepared a three course meal for me. One of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received. This was our starter he’d come up with himself. It was delicious!

My man knows me well! He’d made one of my favourite dishes, bean chilli with roasted sweet potato for main.

For dessert and cake he had improvised together a raw vegan brownie. Something I never thought I would hear him say! The guy is a wizard in the kitchen, it was so yummy.

Wow my 25th was so lovely. With it being the first day back at work you’d might think it was a bit boring but no, my colleagues made sure I had a great day. The day started bright and early at G5. I was so excited to get back to the gym. The workout went well (I was prepared for the worst!) and then afterwards it was time for my birthday calories on the assault bike (the same amount as your age), something everyone at the gym has to do on their birthday. If you’re not in the gym on your birthday you get penalised with five extra calories per day you leave it. Afterwards I was buzzing, I’ve missed that feeling after a very intense workout. You get slightly addicted to it!

The rest of the day was just lovely I got some beautiful presents from my colleagues, one of them being Faye surprising me at work with the most beautiful cake I’ve ever seen and eaten. When I got home Jamie had been at home all day preparing an incredible surprise dinner. Everything tasted amazing. We skyped my family whilst we ate as well, it was great to hear what they’d been up to.

From Jamie’s mum I got some beautiful bowls from Oliver Bonas (they’ll be be popping up in the blog in the near future I’m sure). Jamie had gotten me two presents, which was far too generous. First of all I’m going to get a new pair trainers! I’m going to pick them Jamie said so right now I’m trying to decide whether I should get another pair of metcons or try out the nanos. We shall see! The second present is a weekend away in St Andrews and Aberdeen. I don’t know how many times we’ve spoken about seeing more of Scotland so I’m very excited for that too.

So now I’m 25! I can’t believe it. Where have my 20s gone? I’m halfway through them already! 24 was a tough age for me. A lot to do with me having to leave a job I absolutely loved at lululemon and then being unemployed for five months. It took a huge toll on me and it was tough. I was felt very low and struggled. A lost faith several times and started doubting myself and my abilities. I felt like a failure, why couldn’t I get a job? But if I hadn’t gone through that struggle I wouldn’t have focused so much time and attention on this blog (it kept me going, I absolutely love writing here) and voomfit might have not found me. Every cloud has a silver lining and now looking back I’m so grateful I had that tough period because I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wouldn’t have happened.

24 was the year I took my training to a whole new level. I’ve been going to G5 for over a year now and I’ve never felt as fit and strong before as I do now. I didn’t think it was possible for me. G5 has become my second home and I love it there. I also competed for the first time ever, something I NEVER thought would happen and I loved it! That was a massive milestone for me and I’m super excited to continue to enter qualifiers.

Simply put, 24 was a roller coaster ride! Lots of ups and lots of downs but without either of them I would not have ended up here. I’m so grateful for this year and what it’s taught me, the incredible people I’ve met and the beautiful friendships I’ve made. Thank you for being in my life and brightening it up everyday. Especially to Jamie who has been my rock this past year and lifted me up when I was very down. I don’t know what I’d do without you my love.

25 bring it on! I have a feeling this is going to be an exciting year!
