A little bit less plastic

Good morning my dears! One of my new years goals this year is to reduce my use of plastic. The more you become of aware of how much plastic there is in our society the scarier it is! It’s EVERYWHERE and we need to reduce our use of it. It’s not sustainable. Therefore I’ve started looking at the things we use every day to see what we can change to use less plastic.

One of the things I thought would be easy to swap was our toothbrushes. I’ve heard loads about bamboo toothbrushes. They’re biodegradable and naturally antibacterial. I wasn’t sure how good they would be for brushing but thought it was worth a try if it means a little bit of plastic in our home. What I’m really wanting to do is become more conscious of the choices I make and the purchases I make. A lot of the time we don’t actually need the plastic version of things. Same thing when you’re in the supermarket and you have the choice of buying for instance already packaged up peppers or if you buy them loose. You could save that bit of plastic if you chose to buy that item loose.

The toothbrushes are alright so far. I wish the bristles were a bit less soft because I feel like it won’t last very long with them being soft (we’ll see!). I’m used to buying the medium ones usually. Other than that they’re good! It just feels good to make a conscious effort to help the planet.

I’m a firm believer in small changes and actions making a big difference! These small changes in the long run become big changes when they accumulate.

Now I need to get a move on because I’m starving after the gym this morning!! I need some food in my belly. Jamie’s off, I’m not sure what we’ll be getting up to today. Yesterday evening we went and saw the new Pixar film Coco, it was so cute! We both loved it and cried loads at the end. I love Pixar’s films. If you like animated films you should definitely go and see it.
