Hello lovelies! Happy Easter! Do you guys celebrate Easter? Have you got any special plans? To me Easter was more a thing when I was younger. In Sweden you got hollow cardboard Easter eggs filled with sweets from the Easter bunny that your parents hid. Very lucky for me that we in Sweden have the cardboard eggs with other sweets in them because I didn’t like chocolate as a child, I know odd. Another thing I wasn’t a fan of was ice cream! When it comes to chocolate I have come to like dark chocolate once in a while but I don’t eat it very often, same with ice cream, it’s not something I eat that often.
I actually got called by BBC Radio Scotland the other day and was asked if I could join in on the show discuss about how healthy Easter is with all the excess calories and such that comes with this holiday. I unfortunately couldn’t join them in the discussion as I was busy when they needed to call me later on. My answer would have been pretty much the same as everything else I say, have it in moderation. Don’t go overboard just because it’s Easter but if you want some chocolate and eggs have it but have it because you really want to and not for the sake of it just being a holiday and you’re supposed to eat chocolate and sweets. It’s being aware that you can make a decision and be in charge of your food intake and not just mindlessly binge.
I remember loads of Christmases where we’ve all been eating loads of cake even though we were stuffed and I didn’t really want to eat cake at all, but just because it was Christmas and you’re meant to eat all that stuff at Christmas I ate some anyway and felt so sick afterwards. What’s the point if you can’t even enjoy it? Even writing it now I realise how silly that seems because you should listen to your body and why eat something if you don’t want to?
Another thing you can do if you want to be a bit healthier this Easter is to swap your chocolate for a raw vegan refined sugar free chocolate bar like Ombar or Almighty Foods. This still doesn’t mean you should stuff your face with this chocolate instead but it is a bit better for you. Also make a healthier cakes and sweets. There are so many options out there on Google. Raw energy balls can be super tasty! Faye’s chocolate peanut butter ones she makes for Coconut and Kale for instance are iiiinsaaaaaaane. Energy balls are very easy to wizz up in the blender as well!
Wow, I went off on a tangent there but I think it’s important to bring up as there is a lot of pressure around these types of holidays and I know a lot of people feel bad for overeating on the sweets. It’s okay, just try to make the best decision you can no matter what you choose that you feel good about. Also remember to move your body and go for a walk or exercise. It’ll make you feel so good!
That’s what I’ll be doing this weekend, exercising (surprise!). I don’t really celebrate Easter anymore, as I said earlier but I thought it would be nice to at least have a nice meal tomorrow since Jamie is off. So we’re making a nut roast I think with all the sides and stuff. I thought that’s the closest we could get to Eastery food when I don’t eat meat hehe. Other than that, gym time today and tomorrow. It’s Ellis’s birthday today so we need to support her doing her birthday calories on the assault bike as well.
