Trying my first ever Poké Bowl

Poké bowl is something I’ve heard about loads and I’ve been so tempted to try. It’s always one of those things when something gets hyped, will it be as tasty as it sounds? Or is it just another fad and everyone is just eating it because it’s a thing? The other day I decided to find out for myself and on my way back from the gym I swung by Hawaii Poké on Sveavägen to pick up lunch on the way home.

There were several different bowls to choose from, quite a few veagn options. I stood choosing between their standard vegan bowl and their seasonal bowl “Anja Forsnor”. I ended up going for the seasonal bowl. It had lots of tasty components in it: tofu, brown rice, raw slaw, zoodles, edamame, avocado, mango, spring onions och coconut chilli and lime sauce. When I saw you could add kimchi I of course had to add that too (I’ve got Korean roots after all hehe, plus it’s so tasty). It was super quick to get and before I knew it I was out the door again. I couldn’t wait to tuck in when I got home.

How beautiful and colourful is this dish? Already that made you excited to eat it. Now it was the moment of truth, does this thing actually taste good? I grabbed my fork, got a huge bite of all the different veggies, rice and tofu. I can’t tell you how good it tasted. It was stunning, so fresh and so different. I loved it and I can now say I’m a poké bowl fan. I couldn’t get enough. Every bite was a taste explosion. I loved that there  wasn’t loads of rice (I can find that a bit much) but it was well balanced with all the other veggies. If I was going to be super picky I would say the kimchi was not the proper kimchi I’m used to but it was still good.

I’m now sort of trying to think in my head when I would be able to have another bowl before I leave but I’m not sure there’ll be enough time for me to have one… Fingers crossed poké bowl is a thing in Melbourne… Is it?

I’m just back from the gym and today we’re going to see some of my cousins, aunts and uncles on my mum’s side of the family. It’s another beautifully sunny day here (the weather forecast is saying it’ll 19 degrees here next week when I’ve left!). I’m looking forward to another day of family time. I can’t believe it’s only two days left until I leave already.

I got a message yesterday saying my passport is ready to be picked up, I’m so relieved it’s ready before I leave for Glasgow. I was hoping it would be, otherwise it takes forever to be sent to the consulate in Glasgow and I don’t want to risk not having a new passport with me to Australia when I only have a year left on my current one.

Have an amazing day today and I hope the sun is shining wherever you are xxx
