Foodstory. Foodstory. Foodstory. A place I’ve been wanting to go to for so long. Why is Aberdeen so far away? I’ve been salivating over their Instagram pictures for I don’t even know how long and FINALLY I got to visit them during our short stop in Aberdeen. I was expecting delicious things walking in because I’ve had several friends saying how good it is plus one of them, Frankie, used to work there and sings their praises about how good it is. I just didn’t realise how good it was going to be.
We visited this magical place twice during our stay, for a snack (a very very big snack but still a snack… ish) and for breakfast. When we got there and sat down with the menu I was overwhelmed and just wanted to try EVERYTHING. There were so many lovely things and I wanted to order it all. Jamie knew how much I’d been wanting to go and so kindly said we could order anything I wanted to have and he’d just happily try it.
For our snack we had their falafel platter and two of their salads, there were so many incredibly delicious sounding salad options available in their deli counter to choose from. We had a mushroom and sweet potato one as well as a thai inspired salad. I was so happy when it came out with a mountain of hummus on top, yum! The falafel platter came with some small salads, nacho chips, bread, hummus, a vegan tzatziki and a bed of greens. It was like music in my mouth. Wow. Wow. Wow. Every single bite was amazing and was so happy! Jamie was in awe of how good it was too.
As soon as we’d scraped clean the plates I was already looking forward to breakfast. When I posted about that we were going there for breakfast on my Instagram story I got quite a few messages from people saying I had to order the pancakes. It was already on my to-order list but it boded well for how good they were going to be.
The next morning we headed there just after we checked out of the hotel. Once again, there was so much to choose from, the pancakes were a given but what else did we want to have? The vegan breakfast became or second choice. I knew they served oat milk matcha lattes from my Instagram stalking so of course I had to have one. The food looked beautiful when it came out. I had been up for a while by now and was starving so I couldn’t wait to dig in. Once again Foodstory did not disappoint. The pancakes were beautiful and fluffy. They were served with vegan yoghurt, berry, peanut butter (we asked for peanut butter with ours too because peanut butter is the best) and granola. The granola added such a lovely texture to it all. The vegan breakfast was beautiful as well with homemade baked beans, scrambled tofu, mushrooms, avocado and tomato. YUM!
The portions at Foodstory were incredibly generous we thought. It always bothers me when veggie and vegan dishes are small because you need more to fill you and these guys know that and you did not leave hungry! The only downside was the long wait for the food. Perhaps it was that we were starving when we arrived but it took a long time before it arrived. However, once the food was put down in front of you and you had your first bite all was forgotten. It was worth waiting for. Foodstory is the reason I would rush back to Aberdeen.
Now I’m going to stop going on about this lovely place, it’s making me hungry just writing about it! I’ve been back from the gym for a while now. I did the early morning class so I could just get going with all the stuff I need to do for the rest of the day. One week to go until I leave for Australia today. ONE WEEK. It still hasn’t sunk in that I’m soon away on this big adventure. I can’t even think about all of the goodbyes I’ll have to do this week. I really don’t want to. I hate saying goodbye or “see you laters” as I prefer to think of them as.
Today I’m putting stuff up on eBay, going to the charity shop with some stuff and starting to pack my suitcase and other things in the flat. Jamie’s found a flat with his friend and I thought I’d help him start packing up bits in the kitchen and stuff before I leave.
Have a beautiful start to your week my dears, M xxx
