Another hit for the road

Hello my dears! Hope you’re having a great week so far! Mine has been super busy again. The days are going by so fast and by the time I get a chance to sit down by my laptop to write I’m so tired I just want to go to bed, so I do hehe. I’m trying to prioritise my sleep because I’ve been struggling with it so much.

My facial on Tuesday went well. I was treated by a lovely girl called Sarah and she just took charge. I feel like I got a skin intervention. She first asked me about my diet and other things that could be contributing to my face breaking out as much as it has been. She then narrowed it down to the fact that I’ve recently had a massive change in climate when I moved here and it probably is my skin readjusting to the Australian climate. Something I was suspecting a little bit too. It’s just gotten very out of hand!

She then proceeded to giving my face a peel, sorting out my pores (it was painful) and then putting me under some form of healing light. My face looked even worse when I left haha. Red dots everywhere and I was feeling like a teenager once again with my spotty face. Not ideal but sometimes it has to get worse for it to get better. I got some products off her she said will work (yup I’m a sucker for a sales pitch) but she was so nice and I trust her professional opinion. She also wrote down my exact face routine going forwards using the products I’m already using as well as these two additional ones. Today, two days later, the redness has gone down considerably and I think it’s looking a lot better than it did before I went. I’m going to continue following her advice and hopefully I’ll get my good old less troublesome skin back. I can’t wait for it to just be normal. It’s crazy how bad skin can affect your confidence. I don’t let it get to me too much but I do notice I feel a bit more self conscious. Like yesterday when I stepped into the gym I felt really uncomfortable because I knew my face was a bit of a mess. However, I also am old enough to know that I’m so much more than what I look like. That’s just a little part of who I am.

By the way, did any of you guys know that you should not use coconut oil as a make up remover? I’ve been doing if for a while and when Sarah found this out she told me to stop with that immediately haha. So goodbye coconut oil!

I was on the go all day yesterday and of course snacks had to be at handy as usual when I’m out and about. My mini snack whilst I was in the city was a new Blue Dinosaur bar flavour. Lamington is my favourite but I thought it was time to try something different. Be a bit adventurous you know! I wasn’t a massive fan of their original chocolate flavour but I thought I’d give their Super Bite Himalayan Choc a go. The Super Bite bars are slightly smaller so not as filling but oh boy was it tasty. I don’t know what these guys do but it was sooo gooood. I wish it was the same size as their other bars. The only downside with Blue Dinosaur bars I find is that they don’t fill me up quite as much as other energy bars with nuts in them. Blue Dinosaur only use coconut, which is delicious but not as filling for me.

In the evening it was testing day for one rep max squats. After weeks of doing the squat programming we were all excited to see if we’d gotten any stronger. It was a really weird feeling when my previous one rep max of 75kg felt surprisingly light! I had struggled so badly when I got that back at G5 and now it felt really good. I got 83.9kg in the end (185lbs). I attempted 195lbs and failed, then dropped down to 190lbs and failed. I probably shouldn’t have made such a big jump in hindsight. It’s such a fine line and I wasted energy but oh well, you live and you learn. Either way I’ve made a massive jump in my strength! I have been noticing it in my other movements as well. I feel like I have a bit more power behind me. It’s crazy how well the programming worked and I’m hoping we’ll do it again soon.

What else has been happening? I’ve been working! Mim is back, I’m so happy she’s back now after all her travelling. Today I’m super excited because a bunch of us are going to see the second Mamma Mia film after the gym! I’ve been waiting for this day since the last film was out. I didn’t think there’d ever be a second film but when I heard it was happening I was over the moon. My family has already seen it back home and said it was amazing. So yes straight after the gym we’re getting showered and then grabbing some Zambrero for dinner. Zambrero is a Mexican chain here that does delicious burritos. Then it’s cinema time!

God it was a struggle to get this blog post up. The wifi hasn’t been working all morning but finally now out of the blue it works again. Stress over!

Have a great day and speak soon, M xxx
