Hello my dears! Another weekend has been and gone. I feel like it’s been non-stop pretty much but in the best way with lots of fun things happening.
On Saturday we had a great class in the gym. Then the girls and I headed to the Vegan Market in Abbotsford. It was okay, not super exciting but I got some vegan cheese and raw vegan chocolate to try which wasn’t too bad! I’ll let you know how it is when I’ve properly tasted them. We still had a great time, with Mich, Mim and Em around you always do. A highlight was when we walked past Remedy Kombucha handing out their delicious Raspberry Lemonade flavour outside. It’s honestly the best tasting Kombucha I’ve ever had.
We tried some food at the market but wanted something a bit more substantial and started looking up places online to eat nearby. Funnily enough a place called Lentil as Anything which Mich had told me about had one of their restaurants literally around the corner.
Lentil as Anything is quite and interesting concept. Their food is all vegan served buffet style and at the end you pay the amount you wish. The business runs off people choosing how much you pay for your meal. A very interesting idea. Most staff are volunteers and they offer opportunities to people who for some reason are struggling to get a job by offering them employment and ways to develop their professional skills.
The food was lovely, it felt very odd deciding how much the meal would be worth. A fun experience and an eye opener in terms of how businesses could be run. We sat there for a while chatting until it was time to head back. On the way we drive past a group of people walking their sausage dogs. Mim’s obsessed with them and just as we were driving past the lights turned red. Mim saw her opportunity and jumped out of the car just to get a photo of them all and pet them. It was so funny to watch.
Once back in North Brighton I had a bit of shopping to do as Perry was coming over for dinner. We’ve been talking about him trying out some of my vegan cooking for a while so I decided to make one of my staple dishes bean chilli with all the different salads, dips and sides you could think of pretty much. I can’t get enough of that kind of food you pick and choose what you want in it and putting it in a tasty lettuce cup or in this case I’d also found wraps made with just corn and sea salt. They were lovely! Perry gave the meal a thumbs up which was good. It’s always fun when people enjoy what you make. The rest of the evening we were just hanging out and he showed me pictures from his trip to Europe he just got back from.
A pretty nice Saturday if I may so!
